Champagne Charity Auction

As co-chairs of Third and Fourth Annual Champagne Charity Auction in support of the Canadian Paraplegic Association of Ontario, First Avenue’s Cindy Scott and Norvinda Rodger planned and managed all aspects of this increasingly popular event. General Rick Hillier, Chief of the Defence Staff was lined up as guest speaker for the 2007 event. In 2006,Steven Fletcher, the first quadriplegic MP to be elected to Canada’s Parliament, graciously shared his story at the event.

The 2007 Champagne Charity Auction attracted more than 250 community and business leaders, diplomats and dignitaries who came out to relish sumptuous appetizers and champagne and to enjoy the Ron Ferguson Jazz Quartet’s bubbly mix of hits from the 1930s and 40s. Norvinda and Cindy secured more than 100 items for the live and silent auctions, raising more than $90,000 for the CPA Ontario. Promoted on radio and television and covered in local newspapers, the Champagne Charity Auction also garnered significant and very positive media coverage for the organization and its important work.
